BIG HOUSES TO RENT FOR A SPECIAL CELEBRATION

When you’ve got something special to celebrate, you need somewhere special to make it memorable. A large and luxurious house in a beautiful setting is the perfect backdrop to a celebration with friends and family. Whether it’s a black tie, champagne and canapés affair, a relaxed family weekend to mark a milestone, or a birthday celebration with your favourite people, there’s a big house in our collection that’s the perfect fit for you. Take over the house and do your own thing or ask us about catering, extras and activities to make your special celebration so much more than a party.

We have hand-selected our big houses for celebrations to bring you the best locations, a touch of luxury and space for everyone. Whether you want to stay at a country manor steeped in history, a coastal property with views of the sea, or something more quirky, with disco lights and a bar, we’ve got the big celebration house for you. Ask us too, about spa treatments, catering and outdoor activities, and then look forward to your celebration, knowing you have exclusive use of an amazing property.

The best locations for a celebration stay

By the sea

Going to the coast for your celebration adds a sprinkling of fairy dust to an already important event. It gives you scope to do lots of fun things like spending a day on the beach, going on boat trips and enjoying head-clearing walks along the coastal paths, which all add to the celebrations and leave everyone feeling as if they have had a holiday. Take a look at Lulworth House, on the Dorset coast, which sleeps 20 and has views of the sea

In the countryside

From the Cotswolds to the Lake District, England has some of the prettiest countryside in the world. Throw in the lochs and mountains of Scotland and the quiet beauty of Wales and your choice of a country property in which to celebrate is as wide as one of the UK’s favourite rivers. Talking of favourite rivers, how about bringing your crowd to Alvington Lodge for views of the magnificent River Severn while you celebrate. Or, if you prefer a green idyll, Penbridge House enjoys panoramic views of the Somerset countryside, and is the perfect setting for a memorable celebration.

In the city

Stay in the city and have the best of all worlds for your big house celebration. You can plan a party in the house or go out for an evening to experience the nightlife – or do both, as well as shopping, soaking up the culture and visiting your pick of bars and restaurants. We have a spectacular house in Nottingham, Wallis House, right next to the castle, or how about hitting the capital, at Heath House on a leafy London lane.

The best amenities for a big house celebration

Room for dancing

No celebration is complete without a party and no party is complete without a dance, so a disco or ballroom is just what you need for your big house celebration. Maybe it’s a proper ballroom, like the one at Whittington Manor in Gloucestershire, or perhaps the basement disco, complete with a bar and a juke box, that Secret Sherwood has. It may even be a medieval great hall, like the one you can hire at High Peak Manor in Derbyshire. Even if it’s just a big, sociable kitchen with a Sonos sound system, make sure there’s room for dancing.

A games room

With a big celebration, you’re likely to have people of all ages in your party, and that’s why a games room is always a hit. It’s a great space for the children to escape to when the adults are being boring, and it also adds more excitement to your stay, with the chance to play pool or ping pong, or perhaps engage the children with some good old fashioned board games. The games room at Devonshire House has a snooker table, sofas, Sky Sports TV, board games, books and a piano.

A swimming pool

Like a games room, a swimming pool is a winner when you bring a crowd together for a celebration. It adds a sense of luxury to the occasion and it’s also very practical, for everything from early morning swims to start the day well to afternoon playtime to keep the children occupied. Stay at Colescomb Manor in the Cotswolds, where there’s a year-round, heated, outdoor swimming pool and a cold plunge pool, or at Tregulland Cottage and Barn, where you’ll find Britain's first heated, indoor, freshwater swimming pool, as well as a steam room.

How to make your big house celebration extra special

Make your celebration memorable with some luxury touches that add to the sense of occasion.

1. Enjoy spa treatments at your big house

Whatever you’re celebrating, you’ve earned some indulgence, so why not book an afternoon of spa treatments? But there’s no need to leave the comfort of your big house in search of a spa, let the therapists come to you. Ask us when you book and we’ll connect you with our recommended beauty therapists.

2. Hire a local chef

If the highlight of your celebration is a shared meal, ask us about our network of local chefs. Your private chef will create a spectacular meal or buffet and clear away the dishes while you can enjoy the celebrations without lifting a finger.

3. Go on an adventure

Fill your celebration stay with exciting (or relaxing) activities. From pony trekking to Yoga, we can help you to plan a memorable activity to go alongside your celebrations. Give us a call to find out what activities are available from your chosen house.
